Open Doors- have your say
19th May 2022, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Event Navigation
This event is particularly relevant to students who are from lower income backgrounds, are the first in their family to attend university or are from under-represented backgrounds such as disabled students and care leavers.
Many students and graduates feel like they don’t have the routes or contacts with employers in the graduate labour market.
This Open Door event will give you the opportunity to discuss the levelling up agenda and feed into the developments of a new Open Doors platform.
Open Doors will be a mainstream platform from the Purpose Coalition that connects hidden talent with career opportunities. It will also allow talent to be found, at scale. In doing so it will actively drive equality of opportunity for the country and advance those employers who are pro-social mobility in finding that wider talent.
During the event you will hear from Rt Honourable Justine Greening (remotely) and meet Nick Forbes CBE before breaking off in to small groups with university staff and local employers to discuss topics based on the wants and needs of students and universities, and exploring how Open Door can close gaps in opportunity.
Employers attending include:
- Enterprise Rent-a-Car
- National Power Grid
- Reflect Recruitment Group
- SERCO
- Streets Heaver
The Army - Threshold Studios
Agenda:

3.00pm – Move onto the next set of questions which will focus on what businesses will need and what they could offer the platform e.g. summer placements, work experience, apprenticeships/internships, employment.
