Inclusive Recruitment

The University of Lincoln is proud of its diverse student community, with over 68% of our students coming from an under-represented background. Additionally, our A&P student body can provide the following skills:

  • Unique perspectives & problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated & dedicated individuals
  • Resilience & adaptability
  • Inclusive work environment for all

We ask all our employer partners to consider the inclusivity of their recruitment practices, from marketing their vacancies and attending careers events through to the application process, interviews, and onboarding. What ways can you do this? Find the following.

Diverse Representation at Careers

Ensuring the team you send to events is representative of your workforce, will have a positive impact on how students engage with your business.

Reasonable adjustments

Ensure reasonable adjustments are in place, find out more about reasonable adjustments. It’s important to offer applicants opportunities to disclose disabilities at all stages of the recruitment process to accommodate where possible.

Physical Accessibility

Please ensure relevant assessments have been carried to ensure the location and facilities are accessible for all. Especially when holding careers or recruitment events at your offices.

Digital Accessibility

When presenting digital information, please ensure its all been checked to ensure its accessible for all.

Be Transparent on salaries

Ensuring you are clear about the salary on offer, avoiding using phases such as ‘competitive’ will make a huge difference to the level of applications you receive. Especially given the cost of living heavily effecting our student body. Meaning it’s more important than ever for students to supplement their income while studying.

Communicate support available

When choosing an employer, students value business provisions with training and mental health/well-being support in place. So please be clear and transparent with how you support your staff in recruitment and onboarding.
