How do I start the Lincoln Award?
What is the Lincoln Award?
The Lincoln Award is an employability framework designed to support you in preparing for your future. Whatever career route you decide to take you will need to be able to communicate the skills you have developed and how these relate to the job role or opportunity.
The Lincoln Award supports students to develop and learn how to demonstrate their employability skills; as well as taking part in relevant activity you will be supported to reflect on your experiences and learn how to apply your skills to any part of a recruitment process. By completion of the award, you will feel confident in your career direction, skills and understanding of the recruitment process.
The award structure is divided into Explore, Develop and Apply to support you to focus on these different elements of essential preparation during your university experience. You can see more about each element on the pages listed on the menu.

Why should I do the Lincoln Award?
- Explore your skills, strengths, and career options
- Develop your experience and skills
- Understand the recruitment process and how to apply your skills at every stage
- Put yourself to the test and face an employer in the Assessment Centre Experience
- Gain recognition for your achievements- the Lincoln Award will be displayed on your degree transcript and you will receive a digital badge for your LinkedIn Profile and other platforms.
Employers are looking for candidates who stand out from the crowd and have developed their skills and ambitions – a degree alone is not enough to guarantee your dream job.
There are many things you can do to help you stand out from the crowd; in fact, you’re probably doing a lot of them already. The Lincoln Award provides recognition of the activities you participate in and supports you to identify the skills and attributes employers are looking for. The final part of the award involves you learning how to apply these skills and we make sure you’re ready by putting you through our Assessment Centre Experiences with a real employer!
Whatever your career aspirations, employers will be looking for evidence of these core skills:
Employers want to see evidence from a wide variety of experiences; citing examples from your course is not enough. By completing the Lincoln Award, you are not only supported in developing these skills but also in building the confidence to communicate your university experiences and successes to future employers.
