What is the Lincoln Award?
It’s an employability framework designed to support you to develop and learn how to demonstrate your skills. Whatever career route you decide to take you will need to be able to communicate the skills you have developed and how these relate to the opportunity.
There are three different Lincoln Award pathways that vary in their activity and timings, but by the end of completing any Lincoln Award pathway you will gain:
Experience – completing part-time work, volunteering or work experience to develop your skills.
Recognition – a digital badge for LinkedIn and the Award featuring on your degree transcript.
Confidence – in communicating your skills to employers.

You can see the different Lincoln Award pathways and further information about each below. Each Lincoln Award has different time commitments and activities that you need to complete. You can choose to complete as many as you like as you gain different experience.

Lincoln Award Main Pathway
- A flexible pathway that you can start and finish at any point whilst studying
- Activities can be chosen from a wide range of those offered or use your own activities that fit within the criteria
- You are supported to prepare for graduate recruitment
- Complete by passing an Assessment Centre with a real graduate employer- this provides invaluable feedback and a chance to practice in a supported environment

Lincoln Award Employer Projects Pathway
- 3 cohorts run throughout the year – you need to apply for a place
- You are allocated a group and a project brief from an employer
- You are supported throughout the 8 week project with weekly checkpoints and project support sessions and employability support
- Complete by presenting as a group to the employer and discussing your findings

Lincoln Award Teaching Pathway
- 2 cohorts run throughout the year – you need to apply for a place
- Run in partnership with a local Teaching provider, Lincoln ITT, you receive insight and training to prepare for your experience
- You are allocated a school and spend 3 days there to gain valuable experience and insight into teaching
- Complete by attending a reflection and assessment session and present your findings as a group
