Lincoln Award – Develop
To complete your Develop Experience Activity, you needed to have completed 40 hours of any of the following:
- Part Time Job
- Volunteering
- Work experience
- Placement
- Internship
- Study Abroad
All hours must be from one type of activity. However, once you have chosen the type of activity you can use multiple actvities to make up your hours. For example if you have chosen volunteering as the type of activity you could use 20 hours of volunteering with Oxfam and 20 hours of Volunteering as a committee member of a society.
To evidence your 40 hours of experience, you can upload any of the following:
• Pay slip
• Confirmation email
• Rota
• Log of hours
You can find a volunteering log that we recommend you use here. CareerLinc is our online portal where all vacancies are advertised, including part-time, placement, work experience, and graduate roles. All students are already set up on the system, so simply use your university login to get started.
Develop Employability Activities
To complete your Develop Employability Activity section, you need to achieve 30 points. There are a variety of different activities available worth 5, 10, and 20 points. You can use a combination of these activities to make up the 30 points or select a 30-point package. If you want to do activities outside the options below, please check in with us so we can confirm if you can use them.

Online Learning activities
- Careers on demand: Did you know that if you miss an event, you can watch the recording, and this can also count towards your Lincoln Award? You must watch at least 30 minutes of a session for this activity to count. Recorded Careers & Employability content.
- Online learning: Visit our online learning page and view all the platforms we recommend to help boost your knowledge and skills on various topics such as Microsoft Office, professional development in the workplace or choose a topic that relates directly to your course. 1 hour of online learning counts as 5 points towards the Award.
- Lincoln Connect: Join Lincoln Connect and start building relationships. Earning your – Confident communicator, Global networker, Inspiring others and Creative mastermind Lincoln Connect badges will earn you 5 points each towards your Lincoln Award.
- Jobs Match Activity: Answer questions about what you find interesting, rewarding and purposeful, and it will match you with the Prospects job groups containing more than 400 job profiles. See your results in less than 10 minutes.
Any online learning you have done as part of your 40 hours of experience, e.g. health and safety or food hygiene.
Workshop & Events
A whole range of workshops are facilitated on a weekly basis and cover the whole range of topics from how to write a stand-out CV, how to get a graduate or a part-time job and how to use LinkedIn.
C&E workshops: a whole range of workshops are facilitated on a weekly basis and cover the whole range of topics from how to write a stand out cv, how to get a graduate or a part time job and how to use LinkedIn.
Careers Fair: we host a three Careers Fair’s a year; Part Time Job Fair, Careers Fair and Get Hired Fair. Come and meet local and national employers who have live vacancies that you can apply for to help start your career journey.
International workshops: a whole range of workshops aimed at international students to support with how to navigate the UK job market, provide advice on how to become an Entrepreneur in the UK and how to make career plans in the UK.
International Student Network club: is a supportive, career‑focused community for students—especially international students—who want to build confidence, understand UK workplace culture, and strengthen employability skills. You can express your interest in becoming a member.
University Library: A whole range of workshops are facilitated by the Library team covering a variety of topics from Microsoft Word to Harvard Referencing. All events are bookable.
Digital skills workshops: The Digital skills team offer a whole range of workshop all based on digital skills that you may need in the work place. This include digital note making, power point basics and so much more. All events are bookable.

- Interview Review Tool: a great tool to develop your interview skills. Try out as many interviews as you like and receive feedback. Access the resource here.
- 1-hour project: a great opportunity for students from underrepresented backgrounds to be matched with an industry expert who will share insights into their profession and offer top tips during a 1-hour conversation. Access the resource here.
In-person actvities
- First aid course: These are great courses that help you develop practical skills you can use in your career and beyond. You will be updated regularly on all events throughout your time on the Award.
- Student Reviewers: All new courses at the University are reviewed and approved by an official validation panel before they can be taught. As part of the panel, you will review and discuss the structure and content of modules, and types of assessments on these courses and the support provided by the programme team. Online learning activities
- BSL course: Online courses are available for only a small donation. You must complete the whole course before submitting it for your Award.
- Virtual work experience package: you can find more information on this package here.
- Seo London: Programmes preparing talented students from ethnic minority or low socioeconomic backgrounds for career success. Apply for and complete any of the programmes available.
Mentoring Schemes
- Professional Mentoring Scheme: Take part in the Professional Mentoring Programme to gain insights and advice tailored to your interests and needs, discussions to help you navigate barriers, and connect with professionals and peers who understand your experiences. You will be expected to meet your mentor 3 times over the programme, either in person or online. This initiative is specifically designed to support and empower students with physical or mental health conditions, neurodivergence, or other disabilities. To express your interest in the programme, email the Careers Advisor (Access and participation).
- Disability Connect Reverse Mentoring: A reverse mentoring scheme that provides organisations with a disabled mentor to increase their awareness of disability and disability issues in the workplace to help them explore a different point of view and progress their diversity and inclusion goals. Apply for and attend 6 paid monthly mentoring sessions.
Course related
Employability module: If your course has a full employability module, you add this to your Develop Evidence Form. This module will be part of your course, and you can find out more information from your lecturer about what it entails.
