Preparation for the Assessment Centre Session and Assessment Centre Experience

In order to complete your Lincoln Award, you must pass one of our Assessment Centres- we run 6 throughout the year so you can complete this as soon as you are ready.  Our Assessment Centres take place online and are partnered with a real-life graduate employer to make it as realistic as possible. An Assessment Centre is a combination of tasks and activities that test your suitability for a job. You’ll have the chance to demonstrate your skills across multiple activities and receive feedback too.

Preparing for the Assessment Centre Session

This 1-hour long group session will prepare you for the Assessment Centre Experience.  It will focus on how to approach activities and provide suggestions and tips for maximising your score.  This is a live session, and you can book this through your digital pathway on CareerLinc.

Please note you must have attended a preparation for the assessment centre session before attending an assessment centre.

Assessment Centre Experience

During the academic year we run 6 assessment centres online. These are bookable on your Lincoln Award pathway on CareerLinc. If you have any issues with booking your place, then please email us by clicking here.

Our Assessment Centres start with an Introduction and Q&A session with the employer, where you can hear about their organisation, opportunities and what they look for in graduates.  You will then take part in a 30-minute written task, a 30-minute interview and a 30-minute group task.

You will be sent an email 7 days before the Assessment Centre to let you know the employer and job role so you can prepare for the experience. Please note the role is just used for context- all assessments are designed for you to showcase your skills and are not specific to the role.  1 day before the event you will be emailed your individual schedule which will include your timings and joining links for each activity.

You will be scored individually on each task.  You will be sent a feedback sheet with a breakdown of your scores, along with strengths and development areas, for each activity so you can identify areas to practice and improve.  There is an overall pass mark to ensure all students who complete the Lincoln Award are confident and ready to communicate their skills and navigate graduate recruitment.  If you do not meet the pass mark, you will be supported by one of our advisers via a 1:1 appointment and you will be able to retake the assessment centre again.  If this does happen, please do not worry- many students who did not pass the first time have achieved amazing scores on their 2nd attempt!

If you require any reasonable adjustments e.g. extra time for your Assessment Centre Experience, then please email us at lincolnaward@lincoln.ac.uk at least 5 days before the assessment so this can be arranged.
If you can no longer attend the assessment centre you are booked onto, please cancel your place at least 3 days before. To cancel your place, please email us at lincolnaward@lincoln.ac.uk.
