Careers Guidance is a purposeful conversation to enable you to make well-informed, realistic decisions about your future career.
A 1:1 guidance appointment with one of our advisers can support you with the following:
- Exploring your career options, including if you have no, few, or too many ideas.
- Deciding between different career routes and industry-specific information
- Addressing barriers that are affecting your career aims
- Career coaching to help you identify your goals

What should I expect from a guidance appointment?
Careers guidance appointments are confidential and provide impartial careers guidance. Depending on your preference, appointments can be held in person in the Careers Centre, in an appointment booth indicated below, or online through Microsoft Teams.

Preparation for your appointment
How do I prepare if I have no career ideas?
It can be useful to research ‘What Can I Do with My Degree’ on Prospects for some initial ideas.
If you have more time prior to your appointment you may find it useful to complete the Explore Career Ideas booklet.
Once you have generated some career ideas using our explore resources above, it can be useful to test them out for yourself and reflect upon what you liked or didn’t enjoy from work experience within your careers guidance appointment.
