On Campus Activities
There are many fantastic opportunities across campus for you to get involved in, gain experience and develop your skills- all of these activities count towards the Lincoln Award. Here are some ideas;
The Students’ Union
Community Volunteering
The Students’ Union run a Community Volunteering brokerage system where they place students in local volunteering opportunities, varying from one-off to regular roles. Find out more about Community Volunteering below;
Work Experience
Unpaid, voluntary work experience placements are available across various SU departments, for example HR, Marketing & Events. Applications are accepted throughout the year. Find out more about Work Experience below;
Duke of Edinburgh
Students can complete their Gold DofE Award with the Students’ Union – even if they haven’t completed any previous levels. Transfers can be accepted if a student has previously started their Award at another organisation. The Award has 5 different sections: Physical, Skill, Volunteering, Residential & Expedition. They also support a group of students in completing their Expedition each year. Find out more about Duke of Edinburgh below;
Swan’s Den
Students with a business idea or start-up business can apply for Swan’s Den. This gives them the chance to be awarded a grant of up to £5,000. The grant will support them in their business venture. The process involves completing an application form, attending Student Enterprise
workshops and pitching to a panel of local business experts. Students will receive feedback throughout the process.

University Library
The University Library offers lots of support via workshops, drop-ins and one to one appointments. Full details can be found below;

Great Lives Lecture Series
Each year the University of Lincoln welcomes high-profile individuals from all over the world to speak at our prestigious Great Lives lecture series.
Open to staff, students, and the general public, the series connects audiences with inspiring figures who are considered leaders in the worlds of business, sport, politics, science, and the arts.
