SUMMARY:Civil Service Fast Stream Science and Technology Network Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Our overall external engagement aim is to encourage prospective fast stream candidates into the science and technology talent pipeline. As part of our strategy\, we are aiming to showcase the science and technology work undertaken by the government. In addition\, we want to emphasise the importance and relevance of transferable skills gained from STEM university degrees and how these skills support government work. \nWe are therefore planning on delivering a series of 1-hour webinars consisting of a short presentation on the academic background and current roles of three fast streamers currently working in a science and/or technology function. This will be supplemented with introductory information about the fast stream and time for Q&A. \nOur first webinar has been set up for 12pm on Wednesday 18th March. DESCRIPTION:This year\, the programme will be supported by globally recognised organisations\, including Aveva\, BBC\, Deloitte\, NatWest Group (including NatWest Markets\, the Investment Banking arm)\, RSM UK\, and international law firm Trowers & Hamlins. \nThroughout the event\, students will gain valuable insight into: \n\nA day in the life of key roles across various industries\nTypical career trajectories and potential pathways\nExperiences of recent graduates and apprentices\nDirect entry routes and early careers opportunities\nWhat employers look for in strong candidates and how to create compelling applications\n\nCV & Interview Skills:\nEach organisation will outline what they look for in a CV\, as well as examples of interview questions commonly used in their recruitment processes. \nNetworking Opportunities:\nStudents attending in person will have the opportunity to meet industry professionals at employer exhibition stalls\, enabling one-to-one conversations and relationship-building.
