Event Navigation

The UmPhafa Private Nature Reserve, situated in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, is a 6,000 hectare reserve comprised of three farms previously managed for cattle and encompasses a wide range of habitats from acacia savannah and bushveld to mountainous terrain. Due to previous agricultural practices much of the natural inhabiting species had been lost. The reserve is managed by Colchester Zoo’s charity, Action for the Wild, with their primary aim being to rehabilitate UmPhafa as an example of the region’s previous natural condition.
Action for the Wild is currently offering internships on the UmPhafa to those seeking to gain work experience before pursuing a career in conservation. This is an opportunity for students or recent graduates to attain practical work experience in the field; to develop vital skills and techniques necessary for a range of career paths within conservation; and to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of African wildlife and habitats.
