Artists and Illustrators

Fine Artists and Illustrators are usually self-employed and have portfolio careers, combining self-employment with other roles.

Job searching for artists can include; residencies, arts grants, other arts based roles and contacting agencies and galleries directly. You may also want to consider selling your work

Advice and details of residencies, funding opportunities, competitions and full or part-time vacancies can be found at the following:

The Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook lists Uk publishers and provides information for submitting unsolicited artwork or illustrations. The Association of Illustrators also includes some vital information for this sector –

Vacancies and opportunities are often not advertised at all and you should be prepared to research and uncover opportunities for fine artists through networking.

For Illustrators the approach is similar but also includes a few more bespoke methods, for further information please see this link – and
