1:1 support success for NHS Scientist Training Programme Applicants

Due to challenges around COVID-19, this year the Careers & Employability Team trialled a brand new online drop-in style session to support students interested in the NHS Scientist Training Programme.

Whilst the team currently offer daily, bookable careers guidance and application advice appointments, hosting a drop-in session online was an exciting opportunity for us to support students in their application to a rewarding graduate opportunity. female student holding test tube

The NHS Scientist Training Programme (STP) is a three year programme of work-based learning in which graduates also gain a University accredited master’s degree and a salary. The programme opens for applications each year in January and is a career-changing opportunity for science or engineering graduates with a passion for science and patient care, and with the motivation, behaviours and values needed for the NHS of the future.

Creating an accessible and informal environment via Blackboard encouraged students to engage with this drop-in, resulting in over 15 students accessing application support. Whilst the team waits eagerly to hear the success of our students in the next steps of this year’s recruitment process, interested students can visit this page for more information on this particular programme.
