References

You will also need submit the names and contact details of two referees. Usually these are your university tutor and an employer, possibly someone from the school where you did your work experience.

You should contact both referees before putting their information down so they know to expect this and can be prepared to talk about your best points.

Professional Skills Test

You will be required to pass both a professional numeracy and professional literacy test once you have made your application.

Your first attempt at passing each test will be free, however any subsequent resits will be charged at £19.25. Make sure you save yourself money, and do some practice tests. They are available online at: www.sta.education.gov.uk

You need to book your test through learndirect after applying for teacher training but before you are set to begin it. Once you are ready, find your nearest learndirect centre. Bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
