How To Get A Graduate Job With The National Probation Service
22nd November 2018 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
By managing offenders in the community and in prisons, our Probation Officers protect the public from the effects of crime and give offenders the chance to turn their lives around. No matter your background or level of experience, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference from the moment you begin your training with us.
Probation Officers work closely with people throughout the criminal justice system, victims of crime, charities and the wider community. There are huge challenges in this role, but for the right person, it’s an immensely rewarding career.
As well as the chance to make a real impact on society, you’ll also get great benefits including:
- 15 or 21 month work-based training programme where you’ll gain the Professional Qualification in Probation (PQiP).
- During your training you will earn £22,039 (plus £1,100 if in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Kent, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk or Suffolk Local Delivery units, or plus £3,889 if in London). Rising to £29,038 plus allowances once you achieve the Probation Officer role.
- Annual leave allowance of 25 days (which increases to 30 days after 5 years’ service) plus eight public holidays.
- Enrolment into the Local Government Pension Scheme.
